Origin Failed To Download Game

Comments

  • Hello.
    Log out of origin .
Completely shut down your computer. Start the computer again, then log in to Origin, go to My Games section and try to download the game again.
If you still have issues, right click the origin icon on the desktop and click ' run as adminstrator' then try to download the game.
If the issues remain after doing that, try clean booting the computer then downloading/installing the game.

  • Since I have already done the first two and they have failed, I'm going to jump to the last one. Wish me luck!
  • Ok my computer restarted and I disabled Origin. Do I try and download the game now?
  • It also says I'm running origin in Windows compatibility mode.
  • You will need to now log in to Origin and try to download the sims 4 game.

  • Ok I did that and now I can't download it because it says that I am offline...
  • Check that your internet service is online. Then click the origin label on the top of the screen. Then click the option to ' go online'

  • My internet service worked on my laptop before I did this. Something similar happened I tried to do Safe Mode and it did the same thing. But yes my internet is showing that it is working on my laptop but it won't go to a website on my browser. I'm on my phone right now by the way.
  • Go back to the clean booting link, and follow the instructions to reset your computer to start normally after clean booting.
Then after restarting your computer, try to log in to origin and download the game then.

  • Oh these apply for the older versions of Windows software. I have Windows 10 and I tried the one for Windows 8.1
  • There may be an issue with your internet service, if you are unable to go to a website. If you are unable to bring up a web site, then that may be the cause of you being unable to download the game.

  • That is what I believe as well. My internet connection has always acted out so I may just try and download it using another provider. Thanks anyway for your help. :s
  • But one more thing--in the system configuration the service tab says that my origin client service has stopped. May that be the case? Also my internet connection worked before I tried this procedure but it may be my internet.

The instructions for clean booting Windows 8 and 10 should be similar. Follow the instructions on the link to set your computer to start back normally again. In the services tab, click the button to enable all. Then restart your computer and see if your internet is working and try downloading again.

  • OK I see what I did wrong when I safe booted-I only disabled Origin and not other start-up systems-but I'm still connected to the internet.
  • Reset the computer to start normally again, by following the instructions. Re enable all the services again. Then restart the computer. Then test your internet and also test downloading the game,

Now I followed all of the directions thoroughly but it still keeps me offline...? When I'm offline it says my proxy connection failed
  • Try doing this, which I will quote from the EA site
    HERE ARE THE STEPS.
    1. go to control panel.
    2. Go to internet options.
    3. Click the connections tab and at the bottom of the window click on LAN SETTINGS.
    4. uncheck the option Use a proxy server for your LAN.
    5. Click Apply.
    6. Close orgin restart the program and it should work!

Moving a game to a new location

Running out of space and need to relocate your Origin games? We’ve added a tool so that you can easily move your games from one location to another on your computer. That way you don’t have to redownload them.

When you’re moving games, only do one at a time. Moving more than one at the same time can cause issues.

To move your game files to a new place on your PC:

  1. Find the game you want to move in your Game Library.
  2. Right-click the game tile and select Move game.
  3. Find the new folder where you want to move the game to.
    • There are some restrictions to which folders you can use, but Origin will let you know if you can’t use the one you pick.
  4. Click Select Folder.

The game files will all automatically move to the new folder you’ve just selected. The game will then repair itself and make sure all files were moved over correctly. This might take some a little bit of time to do, but once it’s done you’ll be ready to play.

You’ll only be able to move games in this way if:

  • the game is not currently in queue for download
  • you’re not currently playing the game
  • Origin is in online mode.
    • Make sure to stay online while you’re moving games. If Origin goes offline while a game is moving, the move will fail. You’ll have to manually locate the game on your computer using our steps to show Origin where the game is before you can try moving it again.

You can also only move games on PC, as this feature is not available on Mac.

Please note that some third-party games cannot be moved in this way.

Locating one of your games

Need to help Origin find where one of your game’s files are located on your computer? You can tell Origin where to look so you don’t have to download all the files again.

Here’s how to do that:

  1. Find the game you need to locate in your Game Library.
  2. Right-click the game tile and select Locate game.
  3. Find the folder where the game is located, then click Select Folder.

Origin will then find all the files it needs to redownload and install the game for you.

Happy gaming!
